Description

Equestrian statue of William the Conqueror holding the standard on a prancing horse.

On the sides of the pedestal are six statues of Dukes of Normandy:

Annotation

Unveiled 26 October 1851.

The equestrian statue of Archduke Carl of Austria of 1860 is probably inspired by this statue.

Sculptor

Charles Rochet (Paris 1813 - Paris 1878) and Louis Rochet (1819-1900), French sculptors (brothers).
