In the tympanum a relief showing Jesus on his throne handing over the keys to Saint Peter and the Law (book) to Saint Paul. The lintel shows the story of Adam and Eve: the creation of Eve, the original sin and the eviction from the Garden of Eden. The portal is framed with foliage scrolls and human couples surmounted by small arcades.

The portal is one of the major achievements of Alsatian Romanesque sculpture.
