Description

Bronze statue on a granite pedestal. On the corners of this pedestal are four bronze statues of important men during Isabella's reign (front right, counterclockwise; names as they appear at the foot of the statues):
  1. El Gran Capitan. Don Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, Prince of Maratra (1453-1515), general and statesman. He was called El Gran Capitán by contemporaries and "the Father of Trench Warfare" by historians.
  2. Cristobal Colon, in 1492 Ferdinand and Isabella paid his voyage of discovery to America.
  3. Cardenal Cisneros. Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros OFM (1436-1517), cardinal and statesman, twice regent of Spain, Grand Inquisitor, missionary of the Moors, promoted the Crusades in North Africa, and founded the Complutense University.
  4. Boabdil. Abu 'abd Allah Muhammad XII) (1460?-1527), the last Moorish king of Granada. He surrendered the town to Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492.

The statue is in the Parque histórico de San Sebastián, which was inaugurated 29 April 2005, including the statues, .
