Description
On the east side of the Plaza de Colón in the area called Jardines del Descubrimiento (Discovery gardens), along the Calle de Serrano, is the gigantic monument for the discovery of America. It consists of four huge concrete blocks, varying between 10, 18 and 20 meters large. The total length is about 100 meters. The blocks are engraved with figures, texts and fundamental names of the history of the discovery.
Each of the blocks is dedicated to one aspect of the discovery: "Las Profecías" (The prophecies), "El Descubrimiento" (The discovery), "La Génesis" (The birth).
