Statue of sister María de León y Delgado. It is a replica of the sculpture, that was inaugurated on 1 July 1985. The original was made of crushed stone covered with cement, which caused it to deteriorate over the years as it was left out in the open. Presently, this statue is in the Museo de Arte Sacro of the San Pedro church.
LA SIERVA DE DIOS Sor Maria de Jesus de Leon Delgado, OP nacio en El Sauzal (Tenerife), el 23 de marzo de 1643. El 21 de mayo de 1669 profeso, como monja de velo blanco, en el Monasterio de Santa Catalina de Siena de La Laguna. Fallecio el 15 de febrero de 1731, a la edad de 87 años. La apertura de proceso de canonizacion fue el 12 de diciembre de 1992. escultor: eladio de la cruz |
The Servant of God Sister Maria de Jesús de León Delgado, OP, was born in El Sauzal (Tenerife), on 23 March 1643. On 31 May 21 1669 she professed as a nun with a white veil in the Monastery of St. Catharina of Siena of La Laguna. She died on 15 February 1731 at the age of 87.
