Description

The central fountain of the park is the monument to García Sanabria, a project of the architect José Enrique Marrero Regalado (1897-1956). The monument was erected in 1942. The monument has the form of a monolith with on the sides two reliefs with male figures, representing Work and Future.
In the 1970s were added the portrait relief of Santiago García Sanabria on the back side; and in front of the monolith a statue of Motherhood, also called Fertility.
All sculpture are by the same sculptor, Francesco Borges Salas.

Francesco Borges Salas (Santa Cruz de Tenerife 1901 - id. 1994), a Spanish sculptor, draftsman, painter and engraver, who made much of his work during his exile in Venezuela (Wikipedia).
