Enrique Cejas Zaldívar & Alonso Reyes Barroso

Cross-shaped tower of 25 meters high with a belvedere at the top. Surrounding the base is a group of sculptures designed by Enrique Cejas ZaldÃvar and Alonso Reyes, consisting of four sculptural pieces: the allegory of the Homeland holding the Fallen; a winged woman representing Victory and alluding to those maritime expeditions that returned gloriously to their native land, and two figures of soldiers in a resting position and with a sword in their hands, representing civic and military values, respectively. The walls of the base are covered by bas-reliefs.
This monument was built at the idea of Captain General GarcÃa Escámez during the Economic Command, after the Civil War.
