Statue of a carpet maker, sitting on one knee making a sand carpet.

The use of carpets in the celebration of Corpus Christi on the island of Tenerife dates from the 19th century, the most notorious example being the primacy of the Villa de La Orotava since 1847, which 150th anniversary was the reason for this sculpture.
