Description

Sculpture of a locust on a stone pillar, with the anogram of the Virgen de los Remedios and the dates 1659-2015.

The monument commemorates the event that occurred in 1659, when the people of Buenavista begged the Virgin de Los Remedios to intercede to put an end to a plague of locusts that was seriously damaging the fields. Since then, every five years, the image of the Virgen de Los Remedios is carried in a procession to the Cruz de Toledo.

Inaugurated 25 october 2015 with a blessing by bishop Bernardo Álvarez Afonso in the presence of the mayor of Buenavista Eva María García Herrera and the local parish priest Juan Fernando González.
