Description

Statue of a man with a kind of tambourine. The work symbolizes a dancer from Rancho de Pascuas, at the moment he is making the leap of the shepherd before the Child Jesus on the occasion of the foot kiss.
It is made from polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass and galvanized iron to structure and reinforced inside. The exterior finish is made with iron and copper nitrate, providing durability and permanence over time.

[Coat of arms: Ayto. de Teguise] D. Oswaldo Betancort García, Alcalde-Presidente del Ayuntamiente de Teguise, inauguró esta escultura homenaje al "Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise" el 23 de diciembre de 2013. Los Ranchos de Ánimas adquieren cierta importancia sobre todo a partir de 1580, cuando se funda el Convento de Santa María de Miraflores de Teguise El Rancho de Ánimas de Teguise, proporcionaba la principal fuente de ingreso de la Cofradía, que tenía entre otras actividades las propias del culto a las almas, misas, entierros y pedir limosnas para los pobres, misión ésta que era encomendada al Rancho de Ánimas. El Rancho de Teguise al limitar sus actuaciones al periodo de la Navidad, se le conoce como Rancho de Pascuas. La tradición de los Ranchos de Pascuas de Teguise, con más de 400 años de historia, la viven sus componentes como un importante patrimonio de sus vidas. Cada año en la noche del 24 de diciembre, viejos y jóenes, al son de sus peculiares instrumentos, hacen vibrar los cimientos de la historia de este pueblo The Ranchos de Ánimas (a group of people who sing and dance) acquired soine importance especially after 1580, when he Convent of Santa Mar&3237;a de Miraflores of Teguise (Convent of San Francisco) was founded. Cofradía de Ánimas was created. The Rancho de Ánimas of Teguise provided the main source of income to the Cofradía, which had among other activities the prayers of souls, masses, funerals and to collect money for the poor. This mission was entrusted to Rancho de Ánimas. When the performances were limited to Christmas time, the Rancho de Ánimas began to be known as the Rancho de Pascuas. Members live the tradition of the Ranchos de Pascua of Teguise, with over 400 years of history, and an important heritage of their lives. Every year, on the n1ght of Christmas Eve, old and young people vibrate the foundations of the town with the sound of their peculiar instruments.
