[Coat of arms: Ayto. de Teguise] D. Oswaldo Betancort García, Alcalde-Presidente del Ayuntamiente de Teguise, inauguró esta escultura homenaje a las comadronas del municipio de Teguise en la figura de Da María Betancort Robayna, el 26 de julio de 2016. "Las comadronas rurales compaginaban sus labores en el campo y nogar con la dedicacion altruista de ejercer de parteras en su localidad. Cubrían una función social y santaria a treyes de antiguas prácticas tradicionales que se transmitían de generación en generación. Da María Betancort desarrolló su labor de comadrona en la localidad de Tahíche durante más de 60 años, recibiendo el aprecio y respeto de su vecinos".

Mr. Oswaldo Betancort García, President-Mayor of the Town Council of Teguise inaugurated this sculpture in homage to the local midwives of Teguise and the figure of María Betancort Robayna, on 26 July 2016.

"Rural midwives combined their work in the field and at home with selfless dedication to midwifery practice in their locality. Covering health and social purpose through ancient traditional practices that were passed from generation to generation. Mrs. María Betancort developed her work as a midwife for more than 60 years in the village of Tahíche receiving appreciation and respect from her neighbours".
