[Coat of arms: Ayto. de Teguise] D. Oswaldo Betancort García, Alcalde-Presidente del Ayuntamiente de Teguise, inauguró esta escultura-homenaje a La Lucha Canaria, el 26 de septiembre de 2014. "La Lucha Canaria es una de las más antiguas tradiciones de Canaias y está considerada como uno de los legados más importantes del pueblo aborigen que se ha perpetuado hasta nuestros dís. El pueblo de Tao ha sido durante años fiel embajador de este noble deporte, contribuyendo a mantener viva una de las muestras más significativas de nuestro acervo cultural". Mr. Oswaldo Betancort García, Mayor of Teguise Council, inaugurated this sculpture in homage to the "Lucha Canaria" (Canarian wrestling) on September 26, 2014. "Canarian wrestling is one of the oldest traditions of the Canary Islands and is considered as one of the most important legacies of native people that has continued to this day. The village of Tao has long been a true ambassador of this noble sport, helping to keep alive one of the most significant samples of our cultural heritage".
