Silverio López Márquez
date? |
Corten steel sculpure of a goatherd, his dog, 37 goats and a goatherd's boy with his dog. The sculpture forms a kind of fence between the church square and the road.
A 'sestiadero' ('sostiadero') is a place where the goats could wait before they could drink from a water tank or were milked.
From the information sign:
"A sculpture of Silverio López Márquez, placed in the old sesteadero of the village, is a tribute to all those neighbours of Guisguey who during many centuries have found in goats, the best bastion in those years where the lack of rain and its consequent lack of food, forced many Fuerteventura people to emigrate."
