Karl Menning

(11 May 1874 Tartu - 5 March 1941 Tartu). Theatre manager,
director, theatre critic, diplomant. First theatre manager of the
professional Vanemuine (1906-1914) and the founder of
professional directing in Estonia.

The sculpture was erected in 2006 to mark the passing of a century
since the birth of Estonia's first professional theatre.
