Bronze statue of of Dante's beloved Beatrice on a column, at its foot, in the pavement, a bronze relief portrait of Dante.

(Rome gave the column, Florence the image of its great son to adorn this square in the capital of Denmark, which bears the name of the divine poet. Friends of Italy erected the monument)

Annotation

The ancient column was a gift from the city of Rome, and a bronze relief with the poet's portrait profile crowned with a wreath of laurels was executed by Libero Andreotti and donated by the City of Florence. The plinth was made to a drawing by Gunnar Biilmann Petersen.
