'Denne skulptur er givet til borgerne i Møn Kommune
af ejerne af tankskibet Baltic Carrier
Lad den være et udtryk for en konstant påmindelse
om havets farer og en påskønnelse til alle som
hjalp i den professionelt ledede oprydning efter olieudslippet' --- This sculpture was offered to the people of the
Kommune of Møen, by the owners of the
Tanker Baltic Carrier. May it be seen as a
constant reminder to the perils of the sea and
as appreciation to all who helped in the
Professionally conducted clean up operation.

On March 29th 2001 the tanker Baltic Carrier collided with the freighter Tern in international waters of the Baltic Sea between Denmark and Germany. The accident resulted in the release of approximately 2400 tons bunker oil to the environment.
