Description

Statue of the king, sitting in a chair, on a pedestal with on the corners four allegorical figures.

Annotation

The statue is by Rietschel, the pedestal is designed by Semper.

The monument was unveiled in 1843 in the Zwinger in Dresden, and since 1929 near the Japanische Palais. In 2008 the statue was placed on the present location.
