Built in 1897-1900 after designs of the architect Georg von Hauberrisser as townhall of the town of St. Johann an der Saar. In 1909 Alt-Saarbrücken, St. Johann an der Saar, and Malstatt amalgamated into Saarbrücken and it became the townhall of Saarbrücken.
