Description

On the north side of the cathedral is a portal with various sculptures and three statues on the buttresses.

North portal

Portal from around 1440 showing a relief of the Death of the Virgin Mary. Six apostles are standing next to Mary, they can be identified both by their attributes and by their names in the halo: from left to right James the Greater, Paul, John, Bartholomew, Peter and Andrew. In the upper register, Christ has already received the soul of Mary (in the form of a small child).

Next to the portal there are large round-arched closed reliefs depicting the martyrdom of the patron saints Stephen (left) and Sixtus (right), unfortunately very damaged.
