Description

Sculpture group in three parts:
  1. Raub der Sabinerinnen / The Rape of the Sabine Women, episode in the legendary history of Rome in which the first generation of Roman men acquired wives for themselves from the neighboring Sabine families (Wikipedia)
  2. Urteil des Paris / Judgement of Paris, story from Greek mythology, which was one of the events that led up to the Trojan War and (in slightly later versions of the story) to the foundation of Rome. The sculpture shows Paris with an apple in his hand looking at Aphrodite, on the soccle with the Bacchanalian scene. (Wikipedia)
