Description

Bronze statue of Luther with the bible in his left hand and the papal bull in his right hand. It stands on a pedestal from Swedish granite with four reliefs, showing scenes from Luther's life:

Front: Victory of the good against the bad, otherwise The triumph of truth (shown as an angel) over the devil.

Right: Disputation of Luther and Johann Maier von Eck (according to another source: Luther discussing theology with his close friend Philipp Melanchthon).

Back: Luther at home, singing hymns with his family: his wife Katharina von Bora (1499-1552) and three of his children (he had four children: Johannes (1526-1575), Martin (1531-1565), Paul (1533-1593), and Margarethe (1534-1570).
