Bronze statue of Fichet, with a bronze socle. On his sides are allegorical figures for printing technology and Fichet's literary work.

Annotation

After a 1939 sketch by Octave Simon two identical statues of Fichet were cast under the direction of Lionel Auvergne. Fichet was an ancestor of Simon's mother. One of the two sculptures was donated in December 2000 to the Cité Universitaire in Paris, the other was a donation of the city of Mainz to the University. It was officially inaugurated in the Botanical Garden on 9 May 2001.
