Description

Fountain with a sandstone sculpture of two women: Frederuna, the legendary founder of the ladies convent, sits, and Alswedis, the first abbess of the convent, kneels in front of her.

FREDERUNA-BRUNNEN
Errichtet 1927 zur Erinnerung an die gleichnamige Gründerin
des Stifs Herdecke; zu ihren Füßen knieend die erste Äbtissin
Alswedis. Der von Frederuna gehaltene Schild mit Eiche
dokumentiert eine Legende zur Standortwahl der Stiftsgründung.

FREDERUNA FOUNTAIN
Built in 1927 in memory of the founder of the same name
of the Herdecke Abbey; at her feet kneeling the first abbess
Alswedis. The shield held by Frederuna with oak documents a legend
about the choice of location for the founding of the monastery.
