German journalist and editor of the Westdeutsche Arbeiterzeitung - the organ of the Katholische Arbeitnehmer-Bewegung (K.A.B.); resistance fighter in the time of the Third Reich. Beatified in 2001.

Berlin-Plötzensee hingerichtet.

Er starb as tapferer Christ und Märtyrer der Freiheit.
Sein Leben und Werk mussen uns verpflichtendes
Vermächtnis bleiben.

He died a brave Christian and a martyr for freedom.

für diese überzeugung musste er an den galgen, doch dafür öffnete sich ihm der himmel.

Our gaze is directed towards the blessed Nikolaus Groß, the journalist and father of a family
it was clear to him:
"If we don't risk our lives today,
how do we then want to stand up to God and our people?" He had to go to the gallows for this conviction, but heaven opened up for him.
