Description

Two reliefs at the Europahaus, formerly Amerika-Haus, which was opened in 1952 as the first American cultural institution in Germany, originally equipped with a library, lecture room or cinema and exhibition areas and decorated with figurative representations on the outer facades.
The largest relief is on the south wing and shows in the upper part the Allegories of Beauty and Music, a couple looking at a lying woman with above her a flying angel with a kind of laurel wrath; and to the right a kneeling woman and a kneeling fluteplayer. The lower is titled Taming of the Minotaur and shows the minotaur with Theseus, and a young and an old man as spectators.
The second smaller relief on the north wing shows the Allegory of Peace and Harmony between Humans, two young man and a woman he had just released a dove.
