Sculpture group on the subject of mining 'Glück auf' - the traditional German miners' greeting. It shows St. Barbara, a miner, who sits there resignedly, practically "has done the last shift", then there is a dice, practical for the 'last dice that fell' but also synonymous with luck (Glück). On the facade of the Augustinushaus there a dovecote, a coal cart and a portrait of the first Bishop of the Ruhr, cardinal Franz Hengsbach, with the former provost of St. Augustine, Wilhelm Sternemann.
In 1996, when mining in Gelsenkirchen was being phased out, Goertz created this work of art on behalf of Provost Sternemann (cf. a href="object.php?webpage=ST&record=denw894">the statue of Saint Augustine nearby.
