Description

Relief in the tympanum of the south portal of Saint-Peter's Church, dating from the second half of the 12th century. It shows St. John the apostle in a ton with boiling oil in in front of Emperor Domitian, next to the apostle is a bearded angel. St. John did not suffer from the boiling.
