The Market fountain from 1996 symbolizes with its figures, seals and coats of arms as well as the course of the flowing water the historical development of the town and region of Rüthen from the town's founding, the Rüdenburg, the former city Kallenhardt and the Gogericht Rüthen to the present town with its 15 villages and towns.
At the top of the central column three bronze statuettes of allegorical figures, standing on a semi-sphere.

Around the stone column is a bronze band with four seals:

On the octagonal stone edge of the fountain basin are 15 coats-of-arms of Rüthen and the 14 other towns and villages belonging to Rüthen.
