Description

Metal plaque with Cardinal von Galen's portrait and motto 'Nec laudibus nec timore', forming a part of the monument of the Clemens August Bridge. This bridge was built in 1946 to replace the bridge destroyed in the last days of World War II. On this bridge in 1951 a memorial for Clemens August Cardinal von Galen, the Lion of Münster, was placed and the bridge was named 'Clemens August Brücke' (Clemens August Bridge). The monument was a relief of the Von Galen coat of arms and a lion. in 2005 the bridge was replaced by a modern bridge and the memorial replaced to the present location.
