Description

Half-figure of Anton Fürstenau with an extraordinary and impressive shape. The head shows deliberately different layers of thinking and acting of Fürstenau. Many hands help symbolically to support the upright position of Fürstenau. The powerful hand refers to the existing rights of Herford. The left, armored hand stretches today repellent towards Bielefeld, some already thwarted cannon balls lying on the ground. When the monument was first installed, the hand pointed to the east, the direction of Brandenburg. After a short time, however, it was turned in the direction of the archenemy.
