The classical-style brick building with a gabled west façade was built between 1831 and 1838. The façade has been in its present neoclassical tripartite form since 1904, the year of the parish's centenary, and was rebuilt according to plans by Josef Kleesattel. Above the portal are the words: 'Kommt lasst uns anbeten' (Come, let us worship; Luke 2:15), and above that is the monogram 'IHS' (Jesus Son Saviour).
In the upper central gable is a representation of the Lamb of God in a medallion held by two angels. |
In the upper part of the façade are three large semicircular reliefs.
The central panel depicts Christ on the throne of clouds as the judge of the world. He is surrounded by the apostles, Mary and John the Baptist. |
To the left Mary as Queen of Heaven, holding out her child, with St. Catherine (left) and St. Barbara (right), as well as and St. Anthony (most left) and St. Francis (most right). |
The right-hand relief shows the transfer of the relics of St Catherine to Mount Sinai. |
To the right and left of the entrance, are 3.20 m tall statue of the apostles Peter and Paul.
