Brunnen der SchönheitFountain of Beauty |
August Vogel
c. 1930 |
Two-columned drawing fountain with on top a statue of Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love. She holds the typical apple of Paris in her hand and stands on a shell between between two putti. On both sides are stone putti riding on a swan and a pelican respectively (the one on the pelican is a replica made by Berthold Höbelt on the basis of photos from around 1930).
On the columns are ten fish, six on the front and four on the back (the later four are replicas). On the edge of the drawing fountain is a stone crab and at the frond a relief of a jellyfish.
