Three large reliefs on the east facade of the town hall of men who were important for the German history: Arminius (Hermann the Cheruscan), who conquered the Romans; a bishop baptizing Widukind, the defeated Duke of Saxony (accoring the the touristic tour, this bishop is St. Boniface); Charlemagne, with whom Recklinghausen connects the presumed beginnings of its town history.
