Description

Work of art existing of 15 green mounds of earth between one, two and three meters high, in the Hertener Schloßwald along an axis between Herten Castle in the north and the Hoheward Landscape Park in the south. As a kind of castles the artist has installed on eight of the fifteen mounds typical colliery buildings made of corten steel. In southern direction the collieries are less frequently placed on the mounds, so that towards the former mining site more and more often empty hills can be seen. The models of the collieries - which are all identical - represent Herten's 130-year mining tradition.
