Description

Obelisk with a relief portrait.
Originally a funeral monument commissioned by the volunteer fire brigade of the Duchy of Braunschweig. It was moved to its current location in 1969 and restored on the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Braunschweig professional fire brigade on 1 August 2000. As the original portrait had been lost, a new one was created by Rainer Figur based on photographs.
The obelisk was made by Strümpell.
