Description

Sculpture a figure dressed in a long robe blowing a 'trumpet' - actually a ram's horn (shofar). In biblical literature, this instrument stands for the announcement of God's judgement (Shoah), as well as for the promise of salvation. The 'caller' points to the city centre of Braunschweig, 90% of which was devastated in the war, and acts as a prophet, like a 'wingless' angel, reminding us of the horrors of war and urging us to create and preserve peace.
The caller is mounted on the wall of the choir above the nave of the Magni Church.
