Statues - Hither & Thither

 

Description

At the portal - the only remaining part of the Carthusian monastery - are three statues on consoles.

St. Mary with crown and scepter and Jesus in her arms, in a mandorla with halo.

Sankt Bruno von Küln / Saint Bruno of Cologne, (c. 1030 - 1101), founder of the Carthusian Order Depicted with a crucifix in his hands and a bishop's mitre at his feet (Wikipedia).

Sankt Johannes der Täufer / Saint John the Baptist, (c. 6 BC- c. 36 AD), itinerant preacher and a major religious figure who led a movement of baptism at the Jordan River. He baptized Jesus at "Bethany beyond the Jordan." (Wikipedia).
