On this spot Jonathan Zenneck made in 1899-1900
his first radio-telegraphic experiments,
thereby creating the foundation
for a guide of a German maritime
radio service.

Annotation

Originally, the monument consisted of a boulder with the relief portrait. In 1987 it was removed because of the dyke enforcement works. Since the inscription was almost gone, in 1992 a new monument was erected with the old relief portrait.
