In the front façade of the theatre are three busts, the names are above the busts. From left to right:

  1. Göthe - Johann Wolfgang [since 1782: von] Goethe (Frankfurt am Main 1749-Weimar 1832), German writer and polymath; considered by many to be the most important writer in the German language and one of the most important thinkers in Western culture (Wikipedia).
  2. Lessing - Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (Kamenz 1729 - Braunschweig 1781), German writer, philosopher, dramatist, publicist, and art critic (Wikipedia).
  3. Schiller - Friedrich [since 1802: von] Schiller (Marbach am Neckar 1759 - Weimar 1805), German poet, philosopher, historian, and playwright (Wikipedia).
The fronton shows an allegorical representation of music and theatre.

Annotation

The theatre is built 1879-81 and after a fire rebuilt 1891-93 by the architects Gerhard Schnitger and Paul Zimmer.
