Description
The work consists of three parts:
- Paar-oh-die fountain (total height about 4.3 m, basin diameter 8 m),
- The model of Paar-oh-die
- Parody of Paar-oh-die on a table in bronze, in front of a semi-circular wall with the text "Parodie auf 'PAAR OH DIE' 21-20-1989"
The works of Goertz play with language and material. The word 'parody' parodies the artist onomatopoeic to 'Paar-oh-die' ('couple - oh that', in the English translation the sound equality if lost of course). The word 'Paar' (couple) and the exclamation 'Oh, Die' (oh that) he processed artistically. A woman rests on a ball, her heart is not in the right place, but on the man's head. They don't look at each other, the man is just winking with one eye to the woman. A connection between the two is formed by a golden shoe. Goertz parodied this relationship by the two wrestling animals. The parody of Paar-oh-die.
