Description
Marble and sandstone fountain in the centre of the castle courtyard. The fountain constists of a basin, carried by six columns standing on lions.
The edge of the basin has the text in gilded letters the name of the founder:
VON GODES GENADEN OTTO GRAVE THO HOLSTIN VND SCHOMBORGH VND STERENBARGE HERE THO GEMEN 1552
(Otto IV. von Holstein-Schaumburg, 1517-1576).
In the center is a column, with
- on top a statue of Lady Justice with sword and scales. Under her, the column is circumscribed:
BOT DILIGITE IVSTICIA Q IVDICATIS TERRA SENTITE DE DNO I
- in the center
the coat-of-arms of count Otto IV and the combined coat-of-arms of ?
with between them a female figures representing the sun and the moon.
- in the lower part arches with reliefs of the four virtues
- SPES - Hoffnung / Hope,
- CHARITAS - Liebe / Charity,
- FORTITVDO - - Tapferkeit / Strength,
- FIDES - Glaube / Faith,

Annotation
The fountain was in 1552 built for the inner courtyard of the castle of Stadthagen, and is in 1920 replaced to Bückeburg.
