Description
The New Town Hall was built from 1901-1913 in the style of late historism after designs by the architect Hermann Eggert.
In the avant-corps of the southern façade are sculptures on three levels:
- in the top gables three allegorical sculptures in niches, illustrating "Eros, Wein, Weib und Gesang" (Wine, Women and Singing).
- Wein / Wine. - Eros with grapes.
- Weib / Woman. Girl with apple.
- Gesang / Singing. - No longer present, an empty niche

- Four statues of Guelph rulers of Hanover on the pilasters between the three bays of the facade:
- Heinrich der Löwe / Henry the Lion (c. 1129/30 or 1133/35 – Braunschweig 1195), member of the Guelph dynasty, Duke of Saxony, he had Hannover enlarged and fortified

- Ernst August, Kurfürst von Hannover / Ernest Augustus, Elector of Brunswick-Lüneburg (Herzberg am Harz 1629 - Herrenhausen 1698), duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and ruled over the Principality of Calenberg (with its capital Hanover) subdivision of the duchy. He was appointed prince-elector, but died before the appointment became effective
