Light art illustrating the fairy tale 'The Star Money'. A little girl is holding up her shift to catch the money falling from the stars.
Synopsis (from Wikipedia):
An unnamed, orphaned girl is poor and homeless; she has only her clothing and a loaf of bread that a kindhearted soul has given her. She is a goodhearted person, however, and so she goes out into the countryside to see what might happen. She gives a hungry man her bread, and to three cold children she gives her cap, her jacket, and her dress. After wandering into a forest, she sees a naked child begging for a shift, and since it is dark and she cannot be seen, she gives her own shift away. As she stands there with nothing left at all, suddenly stars fall to earth before her, becoming talers, and she finds herself wearing a new shift of the finest linen. The story ends with her being rich.
If you - in the dark - push the button on the information panel below the artwork, after a brief sparkle a falling star falls into the dress of the girl. (We were there during daylight, and could check it!)
On the occasion of the unveiling of the light art Sterntaler ('The Star Money') in 2012 this book was added as a fifth book was added to the 'Reading place' on the Kornmarkt.
The 'Grimm-Dich-Pfad', fairy tale path, is a trail along sculptures relating to Grimm's fairy tales and other places related to the Grimm brothers. Most of the sculpures were made by Pasquale Ippolito, the later ones (after 2013) by Sergej Fuchs.
The trail has 16 stops, not all are represented on this web site. All stops are listed below:
