Description

Alabaster statue of Landgrave Charles as a young man, dressed as a Roman legionnaire, which is most probably due to the landgrave's fondness of classicism and the antique Roman era.

Annotation

The original statue was made in Rome in 1686 and placed in front of the Karlskirche in 1768. This statue is kept in Schloss Wilhelmshöhe.
