The nickname of the Rotenburger is 'Bornschisser' - well shitter. The stories goes that a robber and his gang once occupied the Wildeck castle of Rotenburg. To get rid of them, the farmers discharged their sewage in the only well of the castle. But also the farmers and farmers' wives had their skirts and pants pulled down and shit in the well.
