33 m [108 ft] high sandstone column with a 5.45 m [18 ft.] tall bronze statue of Ludewig I.

Annotation

The fundation stone was laid 14 June 1841, the anniversary of Louis I's birth, and it was unveiled on 25 August 1844, the anniversary of his death.

Sculptor

Ludwig von Schwanthaler (München 1802-München 1848), German sculptor, son of Franz Jakob Schwanthaler (Wikipedia).
