Annotation

The statue is a gift from the sculptor.

In 1865 Dostoyevskiy lost during his stay in Wiesbaden three thousand gold rubles in the casino. His publisher would give him another credit only if he would write a new novel in a short time. A month before the closing date Dostoyevsky dictated the young stenographer, Anna Snitkina - his future second wife - the novel "Игрок (The Gambler)" in record time. It was published in 1866 and addressed the passion of gambling and greed in the fictional town of "Roulettenburg".

Gabriel Davidovich Glikman - Гавриил Давыдович Гликман (Vitebsk 1913-München 2003), Russian-German sculptor and painter, lived from 1982 in München (Website).
