The fountain was inaugurated in the summer of 1975. After a design of Leo Schreiber the figures were created by the artist Robert Seyfried from Bohlingen. The Eichelklauber guild council built the fountain system.
Since 1962 is Eichelklauber (Acorn Picker) the symbol figure of the Gailinger Carnival. It is based on an agreement dated 15 May 1657 between Baroness Anna-Maria von Rheinach and her subjects. This agreement regulated the picking of acorns and the feeding of pigs in Fronberg.
The mask has protruding eyes, directed downwards, and a long nose for scenting and tracking of acorns. The chicken in the acorn bag reminds to a charter from St. Thomas Dat 1448, that dictated that the Gailingen inhabitants had to deliver the 'Carnival Chicken' tax (3 out of of 8 chickens) to the Schaffhausen rulers.
