Description

Cast iron three-quarter figure of Gustav Hartmann with a high top hat and overskirt corresponding to the working clothes of the 'better' Berlin cab drivers. The cockade-like clasp on the cylinder gives the date: 17.1.36 (date of Hartmann's official award for his 'life's work'?). A long chain of orders with a pendant in the form of a horseshoe at the bottom indicates the social rank and the profession of the sitter.
