To the left and right of the stairs leading to the upper entrance of the Alte Nationalgalerie - to the left and right of the equestrian statue of King Frederick William IV of Prussia - are four allegorical statues, at the top female allegories of sculpting and painting, at the foot teacher and pupils in these arts.
